This is a guide to the way that I grade the condition of the items for sale in the Duran Duran Collector's store, it is based on the UK Record Collector Magazine grading system, I hope you find this helpful. I never sell items below the Very Good (VG) grading in my store or in my auctions unless they are exceptionally rare. Anything specific about an item that is not covered below will be detailed in the item description.

Mint (M) The record or CD is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records and CDs advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. Memorabilia items will be like new

Near Mint (NM) The record looks brand new with no scuffing or any deterioration in sound quality and only the smallest hint that its ever been played. CDs may have a few tiny feint marks. The cover and any additional extras are clean, crisp and with no wear whatsoever. Memorabilia items will be almost as new with very minute wear.

Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. With CDs there maybe a few surface marks but with no skipping on playback and no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. Memorabilia items will be in great condition, Minor ageing wear or a very small amount of creasing is acceptable.

Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable, Memorabilia items will have normal wear and tear without any major defects.

Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. Memorabilia items will have wear and tear and be in a generally used condition

Fair (F) The record is still just about playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. Memorabilia items will be tatty and well used or damaged in some way but complete

Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents and also memorabilia items will be badly damaged or partly missing.
